Tennesee, Tennesee

We spent quite a bit of time in Memphis this morning which was nice. Graceland was pretty awesome. I learned a lot about Elvis that I didn't know before and walking through his actual house and seeing everything was interesting. The house was all decorated for christmas which made it look absolutely gorgeous. He had bought the graceland property in 1957 (I think) when he was 22 for 100,000 dollars!! That's completely insane considering today it would be like 7 million dollars or something!! The trophy room of the house was also crazy!! Man did he win lots of awards and do so many things!! Well needless to say it was pretty cool.

After graceland we went to the famous beale st and got some good ole southern food at the blues city cafe!! The ribs and chicken were very tasty!! Beale st was pretty cool, very quiet though. Although I guess it was the middle of a work day!! It seemed like it would be a great place to party which I'll have to do next time I'm in memphis!!

Now we're on the road hoping to get to somewhere in Virgina tonight!! We're listening to some dane cook which is always fun :)

So I guess that's the update for today. Hope everyone is having a great day!

Love, lau

PS there were unfortunately no JT sightings in memphis (I know I'm a dork, hahahaha)

At the drive in

I forgot we also went to the sonic drive in carrie underwood's hometown of checotah, OK. They are very proud of their Carrie with lots of signs for her!! The food was very very yummy and now we both can say we ate there when the commercial comes on the tv in mass for the hundredth time!!

Oklahoma City

We made it to oklahoma last night and had breakfast at a country bumpkin restaurant called Deb's country kitchen. The food was pretty good but nothing really to write home about.

We did a lot of driving today and stopped in oklahoma city. The memorial for the oklahoma city bombing was beautiful and sad. They did a great job putting the memorial together. It was obviously really upsetting to see all the empty chairs for each person who died especially ones with birthday balloons and roses. I can't believe that happened 12 years ago, that seems so crazy to me. I think it's important to see memorials like these when you get the chance to. It reminds you that life is precious and you should live yours for all it is worth. It also reminds you about the ability of people to come together and persevere. Well that's enough of me going on about the memorial but it was very moving.

Besides the memorial, we also stopped at a Cheerokee trading post. Andrea bought some kick ass moccasin slippers and I bought some dream catchers. We also bought some rose rocks which as the name implies are rose shaped rocks. They are natural and very cool. They are the official rock of Oklahoma.

At the moment we are on the way to Memphis where we are gonna stay the night and hit up Graceland in the morning. It opens a little late than we'd like but oh well!! So that's it for today! :)

Texas smells like poop

God I don't know how the people here deal with this smell....it is killing us. Seriously if you ever drive through texas bring a lot of air fresheners

The longest roads in the US

After eating breakfast this morning andrea and I decided to take a little detour to white sands, new mexico. Little did we know that we would end up spending almost our whole day in NM as a result. It was mostly worth it though. The white sand national monument park was breathtaking. The white sand dunes (the largest gypsum sand dunes in the world) were extremely beautiful. You get to drive through the middle of the dunes and can also walk on them. It was pretty amazing.

So upon leaving the dunes, Ginny the GPS took us on the most scenic route through hills and valleys. It was pretty for the first couple of hours then got a little ridiculous. It did however lead us into roswell which I was very excited about!! We only had McDs there though but still it was shaped like a UFO. Lol.

Now we are finally in Texas and hoping to find Josh Beckett and stay with him for the night!!

I guess that's it for now! I may post again later since I think we are trying for oklahoma city tonight. But we'll see what happens :)

I-10

Well we are still on I-10 but we're going to stop in las cruces,nm instead of el paso. Ginny the GPS says we should be there about 915. I'm telling ya, this GPS thing is phenomenal!

We stopped at the Pima Air and Space museum while we were back in Tuscon. It was pretty cool to see all the old army, navy, marine, and nasa planes. We also got to go in the air force one used by JFK and LBJ. I couldn't believe how small it was. I took a lot of nice pictures that I'll be posting on facebook when we get home.

Oh and I got my first state shot glass from Arizona (because I completely forgot to get one from California)! :)

I think that's going to be it for today. Talk to you kids tomorrow!!

On the road

Sooooo we are on the road and taking the country by storm, lol. We left about 630 or so with a bagel run included. We are currently near palm springs by the windfields in california still. The mountains are so beautiful here. It's so pretty and pretty exciting! Our goal is to make it to El Paso tonight and I think we are going to try to stop at the Pima air and space museum in tucson on the way!! Hopefully it works that way!!

shopping in la is fun

So first of all...the dane cook show was amazing!! He was so on and basically was doing improv the whole time. The laugh factory only fits about 300 people so it was nice and intimate too. It was definitley the best show I've ever seen him do.

Thanks to Liz's friend's job we also had a sweet escalade drive us to and from the show!! After the show we went to some bars in LA...very similar to those I love in boston which was cool.

So yesterday we recovered from the previous night and did some damage to our wallets. We went to kitson and BCBG on robertson (which had an amazing sale). We also went to the hollywood and highland complex where the kodak theater is. This place is so cool..the architecture was awesome and the mall is like half outside. Besides some shopping we drove around and saw some ridic amazing houses including the gated playboy mansion. These places were absolutely insane, I think they were all having christmas parties too.

Alright well I guess that's the update for now. I'm not sure what's on the schedule for today but tonight we are going to the saddle ranch for andrea's last night in cali!! Woooot!!

"welcome to hollywood, where all your dreams come true..."

so i'm in west LA, here at andrea's cute little abode. the movers just came and got a bunch of her stuff.....it's kinda sad that she's leaving here. maybe she'll go back someday and i'll come with. i'm actually really liking it. so far we've hit up an in and out burger (very yummy), universal studios, packed a bunch and drove around some of hollywood and west los angeles. we also went to this place called new york bagel for breakfast, they have flat bagels!!!! very cute and very tasty. universal was wicked fun especially the studio tour, it's so funny to think things were actually filmed where we were going through. it was really cool....especially the plane crash set from 'war of the worlds'. we went on all the rides, met some characters, saw some cool shows and andrea volunteered at the special effects show. overall a fun time.

tonight we are going to a dane cook benefit show for the WGA at the laugh factory. should be an awesome time, and who knows maybe some celebrities will be there, lol.

alright that's enough for now. out to go explore the city some more.

love, lauren
